HUNTERSVILLE - The daughter of Lowe's Motor Speedway owner Bruton Smith is recovering at Carolinas Medical Center after an early morning, single-vehicle wreck Wednesday.
Anna Lisa Smith, 26, was found ejected from her car around 5:10 a.m., Huntersville police said. Witnesses called police about debris on Gilead Road near Beatties Ford Road leading authorities to Smith's car about 200 feet from the road, police said.
Carolina's Medical Center officials did not release any information on Smith's recovery, but police said she was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
According to several drag racing Web sites, Smith planned to drive for an NHRA Top Fuel team.
