Hospital holds free weight-loss seminar

Lake Norman Regional Medical Center will hold a free educational seminar on surgical weight loss on Monday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.
Dr. Ryan Heider, Medical Director of the Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Lake Norman, will explain the surgical weight loss process from initial consultation to post-op nutritional counseling.
In the United States, obesity affects more than 60 million individuals and is considered the second leading cause of preventable death, Heider said.
"Our program addresses the emotional, spiritual and physical components of bariatric surgery," said Bariatric Services Director Laurie Brown, RN, BS. "Our multi-disciplinary program is designed to help patients prepare for a healthy new way of life after surgery."
