A Mooresville man was arrested on drug and weapons charges after an investigation into an incident involving the pointing of a gun.
On Wednesday, Iredell Sheriff Phil Redmond said, Deputy Dennis Huffstickler took a report on Copperhead Road, Mooresville, from a man who said someone had seen Roger Dale Elder, 52, of Mooresville, point a gun at him.
Detective J.T. Smith found that Elder was a convicted felon, and therefore was not to be in possession of a firearm, Redmond said.
Witnesses told Smith they'd seen Elder with a long-barreled gun.
Smith obtained a search warrant, and at the time the warrant was served, Redmond said, Elder attempted to flee.
He was apprehended by Deputy John Fewell.http://www2.statesville.com/admin/content/articles/add
Redmond said three long-barreled guns, as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia, were found.
Elder was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting, obstructing and delaying a law enforcement officer.
