Insurance exec is Chamber's Business Person of the Year

Denis Bilodeau, the senior vice president and partner with Oswald Trippe and Company since 2006, was named the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce 2008 Robert T. Cashion Business Person of the Year at the annual meeting of the Chamber on Jan. 30. Bilodeau was cited for the growth and expansion of the company in the Lake Norman market and for the role he and the agency play in community involvement.
John Stritch, president of operations for Carolina Beer and Beverage LLC, recipient of the 2007 award along with company CEO Mike Smith, made the presentation. Stritch spoke of Bilodeau's significant contribution to the Lake Norman region.
"Volunteerism is a cornerstone of his company's corporate culture. Under his leadership, the business supports a variety of community, not-for-profit and service organizations, through both financial contributions and employee volunteerism. Making a difference in their home communities is as important to the team as the service they deliver to customers. As employee-owners, they live the corporate philosophy that everyone has a responsibility to make a difference in the lives of others," said Stritch.
In 2007, Bilodeau was instrumental in introducing the Greater Lake Norman Blue Chip Community Business Award to the business community. The annual award program, modeled after a regional program in Southwest Florida and coordinated by Oswald Trippe and Company since 1993, recognizes small businesses that have overcome adversity to achieve success. The nominated businesses share their stories as models for other entrepreneurs.
Also receiving awards were Randy Marion of Randy Marion Automotive with the John R. Cherry Community Service Award for his civic involvement, Robert Reed of Alphagraphics with the Starrette Service Award as the Chamber's outstanding board member of the year and Fran Park of Century 21 as the Chamber Ambassador of the Year.
