The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce has partnered with LocalJobs.com to produce a Charlotte-Lake Norman region focused jobs site. The new employment resource is available on the Chamber's homepage at www.lakenormanchamber.org. It allows users to search by keyword, company name or category.
U.S. Department of Labor statistics released for November 2008 indicate North Carolina is now ranked 44th in unemployment with a 7.9% unemployment rate, the highest in 25 years. Mecklenburg County had a rate of 4.5% for the same period.
Lake Norman Chamber president Bill Russell states the Lake Norman Chamber is committed to keeping the Lake Norman region's workforce employed. "This is a very challenging time for our local businesses. While downturns and recessions are a natural occurrence of the market over a given period time, they are never welcome and often leave workers displaced and businesses struggling to stay afloat. Our business community must continue to seek ways to maximize customer service, increase exposure for their businesses, while keeping an eye to the bottom line."
