Years ago, one of my favorite pastors taught me about discerning what is urgent and what is important.
Our society is very busy and most of the time we are focused on urgent matters. How much time do we devote to what is important? God of the Bible tells us in his word that a relationship with him is the most important thing in our lives. Do we cultivate that relationship by spending time with him in prayer and in his word? Do we know him? Are we even concerned with what he considers important? Do we ponder on his goodness? Do we see and acknowledge him in all things? If your answer to these questions is "No," who needs to change?
We are not the center of the universe; God is. God's time line is linear. Don't waste too much time on urgent matters and neglect the absolute sovereign God. He does not take it lightly.
