Warriors eliminated in first round

Weddington 3, West Iredell 0
West Iredell's season drew to a close Wednesday night, as Weddington defeated the Warriors 3-0 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs.
West Iredell trailed 1-0 at halftime. Looking for the equalizer, the Warriors got aggressive on offense, but it didn't produce what they hoped. Instead, Weddington countered with two insurance goals to put the game out of reach.
West Iredell goalkeeper Tang Moua made eight saves, and Ryan Milligan helped turn aside two more Weddington shots on goal.
The Warriors, who finished third in the North Piedmont Conference, ended their campaign with a 14-7-2 record.
