Mitchell Community College will have a special guest speaker on campus this week.
Cherokee storyteller and author Lloyd Arneach will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shearer Hall on the MCC campus.
The hour-long event will be free and open to the public.
Arneach was born and raised on a Cherokee reservation in North Carolina. He is the author of "Animal's Ballgame," based on Cherokee animal stories, and "Long-Ago Stories of the Eastern Cherokee," and has performed at the Kennedy Center, the National Folklife Festival and the National Museum of the American Indian in the past.
The event is hosted by MCC Visiting Writers Series and the Diversity Task Force in recognition of National American Indian Heritage Month.
The program is funded in part by the N.C. Arts Council's Grassroots Arts Program through the Iredell Arts Council.
