Fall festivals

Area churches will be hosting numerous fall festivals:

Coddle Creek ARP, Coddle Creek Hwy., will have a fall festival on Oct. 31.

The youth of Mooresville ARP, Carpenter Ave., will host the fall festival on Oct. 25.

New Perth ARP Church will have its fall festival on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m.

Rehobeth UMC will host a fall festival on Oct. 24 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Rehobeth UMC Connor Recreation Center, 4015 McGee Rd., Terrell. All are invited to enjoy the games, prizes, hot dogs, trunk or treat and inflatables. For more information, call 828-478-2518 or visit www.rehobethumc.org

Truck or treats

Park Avenue UMC, 648 W. Park Ave., will have Trunk or Treat at the church on Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m.

Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, 1739 Perth Rd., will be sponsoring a Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 beginning at 6 p.m. This annual event will be held in the church's parking lot, where children can go trick or treating from car to car. There will also be free hot dogs and drinks available to enjoy.

Bethesda Fest

Bethesda A.M.E. Zion Church, 1425 Shearers Rd., Mooresville, will sponsor Bethesda Fest on Oct. 24. The event will feature a yard sale beginning at 7 a.m. with breakfast available for purchase, lots of toys, food and fun. A car show cruise-in is planned for 11 a.m. For additional details, 704-664-2530.

Spaghetti fundraiser

Broad Street United Methodist Church, 355 S. Broad St., Mooresville, will sponsor the annual Brice Rummage Memorial fundraiser spaghetti dinner on Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to families of children with birth defects to help with overall costs incurred by the family.

Men's seminar

Christian author and speaker Brad Henry will share his life story at a men's only event at Peninsula Baptist Church, 586 Brawley School Rd., Mooresville on Oct. 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Author of two books, "Destination–The Winner's Circle" and "Whoever Gets To Heaven First Wins", as well as Daily Devotionals weekly, Henry shares how to be a godly man in today's world and still get ahead.

Blood drive

A Red Cross blood drive will be held at Broad Street United Methodist Church, 355 S. Broad St., Mooresville, on Oct. 26 from 3:30-7:30 p.m.

Homecoming

Mooresville First Wesleyan Church, 601 E. Iredell Ave., will be celebrating its Homecoming on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. Guest speaker for the special occasion will be the Rev. James Capps. Following the morning worship service, the Homecoming meal will be held at Camp Wesley located at 3090 Deal Rd., Mooresville. After the meal, Southern Grace with Mike McDaniels will provide special music. All are invited to attend. Pastor Bill Tietje and the congregation invite all to attend. Fundraiser meal

Hopewell United Methodist Church, 2211 Hopewell Church Rd., Sherrills Ford, will sponsor a fundraiser meal for Backpack for Kids on Nov. 7 with serving from 4:30 p.m.-until. On the menu will be country style steak, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, bread, dessert and drink. Cost is $8 for adults, $8 for all take-outs and $4 for children ages 12 and under. Saturday night live

On Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Caldwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 123 Langtree Rd., Mt. Mourne, there will be 'Saturday Night Live' with different men's singing groups performing. There will also be some Christian comedy on the program. All are invited to attend.

Pastoral anniversary

Bishop and Evangelist Roseman will be celebrating his 7th Pastoral Anniversary at New Beginning Church, 1124 Thomas Ave., Kannapolis, with special services on Nov. 19-22, excluding Friday. Speakers will be Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Pastor W. Brown of Written Epistle Church of Jesus Christ in Charlotte; Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. Apostle S. Men's Day program

Rev. Fred Thomas, pastor of St. Mary's in Charlotte, will be the guest speaker for the Men's Day program at New Beginning Church on Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. Rev. Thomas will be accompanied by his gospel group, Fred Thomas and the Voices of Faith of Charlotte. The church is located at 1124 Thomas Ave., Kannapolis. Bible study

Faith United Methodist Church, 430 Patterson Ave., is offering a short-term disciple Bible study, "Invitation to the New Testament." Using Matthew's Gospel as a starting point, this study explores how the New Testament writers and the early Christian community wrestled with the coming of Jesus – His life, actions, missions, death and resurrection. The community is invited to join to study afresh this story of Jesus, and learn more about their calling to discipleship and to community. The study are held on Tuesdays from 7-8:15 p.m. through Dec. 1. Contact James Carpenter at 704-660-6483 with questions and to reserve a study guide. Rev. Donald E. McCoy is the pastor of the local congregation.

Evangelism program

"Everyday Evangelism for Everyday People," presented by Terry Duckworth Ministries will be coming to Rocky Mount UMC on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 8:30 a.m. Join in learning how to apply Jesus' life and teachings to our everyday life. Refreshments will be served Friday night, and lunch will be available on Saturday for a nominal cost. All are invited. Registration is required and encouraged by responding to larry2e@bellsouth.net and give name, contact information and the number attending. No registration fee for the seminar, but a love offering will be collected.

Help needed

Planning for this December's 'Walk Thru Bethlehem' is in full. Here is your chance to be a part of this event. Anyone interested in construction, acting, or serving in this multi-denominational holiday event is welcome. Couples with an infant 3-15 months are also invited for a 2-hour shift as the Holy family. Barbecue planned

Caldwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 123 Langtree Rd., Mt. Mourne, will be sponsoring a barbecue on Oct. 30-31. They will be serving pork barbecue and Port-a-Pit chicken from 10 a.m.-until on both days. Cost is $8.50 for plates and $4 for the pork BBQ sandwiches, and $5 for the chicken sandwiches.

Studies planned

Two studies are being conducted at Rehobeth UMC in Terrell, both held on Tuesdays. The first is a women's Bible study by Beth Moore on "Esther," which will peel back the layers of history and see how contemporary and applicable the story of Esther is to women today. Scheduled for 9:30-11:30 a.m., it will last for 10 weeks. Call Bonnie Keen if you plan to attend at 828-478-3306 so she may order the right number of books.

The second study, "Interpreting Paul in the 21st Century" will meet for 6 weeks from 7-8 p.m. Dr. Kerr will begin this Bible study/discussion group that will examine the writings of the Apostle Paul in the light of 21st century knowledge of the languages and customs of the day. The study will begin with Paul's first letter to the Corinthian Christians. Bring a Bible, a pen or pencil. Study materials will be provided.

New church meets

Glory Chapel, a spirit-filled church has begun gathering for worship services on 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings at the Fairfield Inn – Marriott at Exit 36, 120 Consumer Square Dr. in Mooresville. Sunday school seminar

The Dr. Charles Cranford School of Theology will be offering the course/seminar "Significant Stuff for Sunday School Success" at its campus at Salem Baptist Church in Lincolnton on Oct. 27 from 6:30-9 p.m. Planned for all Sunday school officers/teachers, the cost will be $25 per person which includes materials and refreshments. Dr. Andy Royals, pastor at Salem Baptist, will serve as facilitator/instructor. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 20 in order to have materials prepared. Free study

The Mooresville Church of Christ will be offering free Bible studies on DVD with a new title being introduced each month. For a free copy, call the church at 704-663-7414.

Adoption support group

Davidson United Methodist Church is hosting a new adoption support group from 6-7:30 p.m. at the church, 233 South Main St., Davidson. The group will meet twice a month to offer education, fellowship, support, and family fun for those considering, in the process of, or already at home with their adopted children. Free meal served

Everyone is welcome to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 2211 Hopewell Church Rd., Sherrills Ford, for a free hot meal. The meals are offered on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

New church

Emmanuel Christian Fellowship, with Gregg Kellum as teaching pastor, is a young church with a fresh vision to build up and encourage believers in Jesus Christ. The congregation gathers for worship at 10 a.m. on Sundays at the Troutman American Legion Building on Main St. (Hwy. 21) beside Troutman Elementary School. Junior Congregation services

The Lake Norman Jewish Congregation has started offering Junior Congregation Services led by Rabbi Michael Shields. These monthly services for children and their families will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 605 South St. in Davidson and are held alternatively each month on either Friday night or Saturday morning to include as many families as possible.

Hot dog lunch

Fieldstone Presbyterian will be having a hot dog lunch fundraiser every Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost will be a hot dog, a bag of chips and a drink for $2. Extra hot dogs are $1.50. Eat-in, take-out or delivery is available. For details or to place an order on Friday, call 704-663-2188.

Community study

A weekly community Bible study is presented each Thursday at the South Iredell Senior Center in the Charles Mack Citizen Center from 10-11 a.m. Lora Lee Holshouser leads the study. All are invited to attend.
