The 64 people who have lost their lives in domestic violence-related incidents across North Carolina will be remembered a vigils on Saturday and Monday.
On Saturday, the "Not Tonight Domestic Violence Peace Initiative Workshop" will host its Third Annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. at Visions Outreach Ministries, 524 E. Front St.
Tony Bellamy, founder of the Not Tonight Domestic Violence Project Workshop urges community
participation in the vigil. The candlelight service offers a way to remember the victims of domestic violence.
Francine Bellamy will read a poem, Patti West from My Sister's House to speak for 10 minutes and a special candlelight service will follow.
The second vigil, a Domestic Violence Awareness Rally, will take place Monday on the lawn at the Iredell County Hall of Justice at 12:45 p.m. Statesville Mayor Costi Kutteh is the scheduled speaker.
