A jury found Al Antonio Bellamy of Statesville not guilty of first-degree murder in Iredell County Superior Court Monday morning.
The eight-man, four-woman jury deliberated about an hour and 40 minutes before finding Bellamy not guilty.
Bellamy was facing life in prison without parole if convicted on the first-degree murder charge.
He was charged with shooting Jimmy Matreece Walker of Charlotte on Oct. 31, 2004 in front of the CVS Pharmacy on Turnersburg Road.
The state contended he shot Walker in retaliation for robbing Bellamy's friend, Kenny Oakley, just prior to the shooting.
The defense argued that nothing tied Bellamy to the crime other than the statements of five people looking for breaks on prison time and a phone call made to him by Oakley's roommate.
