Halloween events: Here's your lineup

Here's a look at some of the Halloween and Trunk or Treat activities going on in the Mooresville area:

Free library movie
The Mooresville Public Library will host a free showing of the film "The Haunting in Connecticut," for area teens on Saturday, Oct. 31. The movie, which is rated PG-13, will begin at 1 p.m. at the library, located at 302 S. Main St.

The event kicks off the library's canned food drive to benefit the Mooresville Soup Kitchen. Admission to the movie is one can of food. The Teen Advisory Board will provide free popcorn for the showing.

'Scary Stories'
The Friends of the Mooresville Public Library will host author Bobbie Pell Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for a reading of tales from her book, "Scary Stories."

The 45-minute performance of multi-cultural tales involve humor, wit and mysterious occurrences. A costume contest for kids will follow the event. It's for all ages and is free. For details, call the library at 704-664-2927.

Downtown Halloween
Children are invited to trick or treat through downtown Mooresville on Oct. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m.

All Saints Fall fest
First Presbyterian Church will hold an All Saints' Eve Fall Festival Saturday from 5-7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. It's free and will feature a hot dog supper, games, popcorn, prizes, candy, baked goods, a cake walk, moonwalk and a costume parade for young children.

Holy Hip-Hop!
The Agape Recreation Center at 781 Agape Drive will host its third annual Holy Hip-Hop Night Saturday from 6-9:30 p.m.

The event, free and open to all area children and their parents, will feature local contemporary hip-hop artists and The Mimes, a Christian dance performance group. There will be food, candy, games and door prizes.

Davidson march
Downtown Davidson's annual Halloween March will be held Friday at 5 p.m. The public is invited to dress in costumes and march along Main Street; last year, more than 500 people participated.
The parade begins at Town Hall and marchers are asked to gather near the police department parking lot. For more information, call 704 892-3349 or visit www.ci.davidson.nc.us

Forbidden Farms
Carrigan Farms is continuing its haunted attraction Forbidden Farms through Nov. 1. Admission is $15 on Thursdays and Fridays and $20 on Saturdays and Sundays. For details, visit www.forbiddenfarms.com

Pumpkin Run
The Mooresville Recreation Department will host the 10th Annual Pumpkin Run on Saturday. The 8K road race and 2K fun run/walk will start at 9 a.m. at the War Memorial Building on North Maple Street.

Registration for the 8K road race is $25 per person in advance and $30 for those arriving last-minute. Registration for the 2K run/walk will be $15 per person, ages seven and up. All proceeds will benefit the Mooresville Recreation Foundation. For more information or a registration form, visit www.mooresvillerecreation.org

Trunk or Treats

*Rocky Mount United Methodist Church on Perth Road will hold a Trunk or Treat on Saturday at 6 p.m. It's in the church parking lot, where children can go trick or treating from car to car. There will also be free hot dogs and drinks.

*Park Avenue UMC, 648 W. Park Ave., Mooresville, will have Trunk or Treat at the church Saturday from 5-8 p.m.

*Lake Norman Christian Ministries at 2940 Charlotte Hwy. in Mooresville will host a Trunk or Treat Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. There will be free candy and activities. Details: 704-664-4216.

Pet costume contest
Pet owners are invited to enter their pets in Citizens for Animal Welfare's Halloween Pet Costume Contest. It's Friday from 5:30-9 p.m. at Signal Hill Mall in Statesville. It's free.
