NASCAR driver A.J. Allmendinger was arrested early Thursday morning in Mooresville and charged with drunken driving, police said.
Allmendinger, who drives the No. 44 car for Richard Petty Motorsports, was pulled over around 1:30 a.m. Thursday on N.C. 150 near Talbert Road, Mooresville Police Capt. Phil Blocker told the Mooresville Tribune.
According to the police report Allmendinger, 27, who lives in Cornelius, blew a .08 on the field sobriety test. In North Carolina, .08 or higher is considered legally drunk.
After his arrest, Allmendinger was released without having to post bond.
