Published: October 30, 2009

Select Mooresville streets will be decked out early Halloween morning with a host of runners decked out in road race running costumes.

While getting an early start on the day's proceedings, they, too, will be seeking treats, only not in the form of candy corn and all other types of specialty goodies.

No, they'll be looking to pull tricks of a much different kind.

All will be donning the look of participants in the 10th annual Pumpkin Run 8K Road Race and its accompanying 2K Fun Run/Walk.

Early registration is complete and only day-of-the-event sign-ups will be accepted for the staging of the Pumpkin Run and its sidekick event that will take place beginning tomorrow morning.

All those still wishing to run but have not yet registered to do so will be charged $30 each. That's a $5 increase from all those who signed up to run prior to the Oct. 23 early registration deadline.

On the day of the races, registration will take place beginning at 7 a.m. and continue up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled main event at 9 a.m.

As for the Fun Run/Walk, it, too, will be accepting race-day entries. But only those paying the $15 entry fee by the deadline to do so are guaranteed event T-shirts.

For all in the fields, race packets can be secured all day today at the host Mooresville Recreation Department, off Carpenter Ave. That will also be the site of the races' starting and finishing lines.

On the day of the races, packets can be secured up to 30 minutes before the starting gun is fired.

In the main event Pumpkin Run 8K race, marking its 10th anniversary, special awards will be presented to each of the top three finishing female and male finishers to navigate the certified course. Also, all placing in the top three positions in each of the age classes for female and males will also be recognized accordingly.

Age division for each genders are as follows: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-349; 50-54; 55-59; and 60 and up.

Before participation, all entries must agree and sign a waiver form.

All proceeds realized from the affairs will benefit the Mooresville Recreation Foundation.
