Christmas crafts focus on nature, 'green' holidays

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Gail Lemiec and Julie Higgie, environmental educators for Latta Plantation Nature Center, plan a free natural crafts program for all ages titled "Green Gifts" set for 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Mooresville Public Library, 304 S. Main St.

This special event, sponsored by Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists, will highlight paper making, recycling and other ways to keep your holiday "green". Participants will also learn how to decorate their home and yard for wildlife using natural materials such as pine cones, nuts, fruits and evergreen branches.

Animal species attracted to these materials will be covered and handouts will be supplied, therefore, a "head count" is being asked. Those who wish to attend should call 704-947-3099 or visit www.lakenormanwildlife.org by Dec. 10 to register.

This is the fourth of nine free nature programs planned for 2008-09 by LNWC, a chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation.
