The Chamber of Commerce is using print, cable and the Internet to promote the campaign aimed at getting local residents to shop for their retail and service needs in Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville.
Chamber president Bill Russell said one of the benefits of this campaign is that residents have the opportunity to learn more about local businesses or maybe even find a "hidden gem" that they have never noticed before.
"Have you ever driven by a local store and wondered what it had to offer — but then never quite found the time to check it out?" he asked. "When you think of dining out, do you forget to consider your hometown choices first? The fact is we have some of the best retail shopping, restaurants and business services in the Charlotte region right here in our lake community."
Residents can go to LKNSavings.com for coupons on retail goods and services from businesses in the area.
"Shopping locally is a great thing, and the more we support our neighbors, the better," said Lisa Zakar, owner of Lisa Rose, a specialty shop that puts on dress-up parties for children. "I think people are attracted to value."
Jeff Coyne, vice-president and general manager of Pet Pantry thinks buying locally is a great way to stimulate the local economy.
