A Mooresville man has been charged with arson in the burning of a commercial building on Rolling Hills Road.
On Dec. 14 at about 1:45 p.m., Mooresville firefighters responded to a fire at CKS Packaging, 289 Rolling Hills Road. Crews soon discovered the fire had been held in check by the structure's sprinkler system, allowing the fire to be contained to the warehouse.
An investigation showed the fire was intentionally set, and Antonio Castillo, 30, an employee of CKS Packaging, was arrested and charged with two counts of burning of a building. He is in the Iredell County Jail.
The fire caused an estimated $125,000 in damages to the warehouse goods and structure. However, due to the activation of the sprinkler system, another $6 million worth of stock and machinery was spared from the fire, said Fire Marshal Gary Styers.
