Our own local heroes
deserve a salute, too
As I was watching TV and the tributes to Capt. Sully Sullenberger and the US Airways crew, it dawned on me that we have hundreds of Capt. Sullys right here in Mooresville and Iredell County.
These heroes are the many hundreds of referees, coaches, assistant coaches, parents, caretakers and friends and neighbors who make it possible for our children to participate in sports in this community.
Not only are the children learning the rules of the games, they are learning to play as a team and respect one another – which will carry over to adulthood.
Thank you to everyone who gives of their personal time to guide our future leaders. No matter what your age or gender, without you there would be no organized sports.

Restaurant always has
a place in our hearts
My husband and I moved from Mooresville to Stanly County 13 years ago. But there has always been a favorite restaurant that we come back to as often as possible – Lotus Chinese Restaurant on Plaza Drive.
Steve, the owner, and all of his staff treat you like royalty when you enter, and I feel like I'm visiting with family whenever I'm there.
