Champs eliminate MHS doubles tandem

The only tennis players from the county playing in the 4A state championship, Ciera Combs and Maggie Siebert fell in the first round of the doubles bracket.

Combs and Siebert, the I-Meck doubles champs, bumped into Asha Iyengar and Katie Kane from Raleigh tennis power Broughton in the first round and lost 6-1, 6-2.

Iyengar and Kane ended up winning their second consecutive state doubles championship, winning 6-1, 6-2 in the finals against another Broughton tandem.
