In a result that speaks volumes to the level of boys soccer in Iredell County, all six county public high schools earned a spot in the N.C. High School Athletic Association state playoffs.
Of those six teams, four performed well enough this year to open at home. All games are scheduled to be played Wednesday.
Statesville (12-8-1) has homefield advantage through the West Region by virtue of its No. 1 seed in North Piedmont Conference.
The Greyhounds open the 3A bracket when they host Hickory Ridge (10-7-2), the No. 4 seed from the South Piedmont Conference.
Also in the 3A bracket and at home is North Iredell (14-5), which is No. 2 in the NPC.
The Raiders will host Parkwood (5-11-2).
Lake Norman went from a surefire road game to claiming the I-Meck 4A Conference's No. 2 seed with a strong end to the regular season.
The Wildcats (13-6-2) host Sun Valley, the Southern Carolina Conference's No. 2 seed.
South Iredell is the final county team opening at home, and the Vikings are also the hottest team in the area.
South (13-6-1) has not lost since mid-September and opens against South Stokes (11-6-2).
Other games this week on the road are West Iredell (14-6-2) at Weddington and Mooresville (13-6-2) tangles with Olympic.
