Two people were charged and a third is being sought for trying to sell stolen jewelry at a Statesville pawn shop last week.

Kayla Renee Godfrey and Kevin Robert Pawlalzyk were each charged with possession of stolen property, attempted obtaining property by false pretense and resisting and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Fabian Lamont Antonio Corry is being sought on the same charges.

Statesville Police Department Chief Tom Anderson said that on Oct. 29 the three came into Statesville Jewelry and Loan on Center Street and tried to sell jewelry listed as stolen.

Anderson said a woman from Mooresville contacted area pawn shops after jewelry was stolen from her house.

When the three individuals came into the store on Oct. 29, someone in the store recognized the jewelry.

The police were called and downtown patrol Officer Joe Prevette responded. Anderson said he spotted the three individuals just outside the store and they ran.

Prevette and other officers were able to apprehend Godfrey and Pawlalzyk.
