Man dies after being struck by falling tree

An elderly Mooresville man died Wednesday night after he was struck earlier in the day by a pine tree that was blown over by the wind.

Mooresville fire officials said the man, identified by emergency officials and neighbors as Worth Mayhew, suffered a head injury. He was near his car in the driveway when the tree fell about 2:45 p.m.
