Air Force jazz band to perform at MCC

A United States Air Force jazz ensemble is coming to Statesville.

The nine-piece band, called Satellite, performs jazz, blues and funk music and will give a free concert from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Shearer Hall on the Mitchell Community College campus.

The group consists of a four-piece rhythm section of drums, bass, piano and guitar; a female vocalist; and a four-piece horn section of trumpet, trombone and two saxophones.

The group is led by Master Sgt. Allen Wittig.

Group members include saxophonist Wittig and Staff Sgt. Chris Stelling; trumpet player Technical Sgt. Kerry Moffit; trombone player Master Sgt. John Cisar; percussionist Staff Sgt. Reid Stockdill; guitarist Senior Master Sgt. Ballard Eldon Sully; bass player Master Sgt. J.R. Erb; pianist and keyboard player Airman 1st Class Les Fowler; and vocalist Staff Sgt. Natalie Madison.

No tickets are required for admission.
