Warrants have been issued for a Charlotte man in connection with a string of vehicle thefts and break-ins in the Mooresville area in October.
Xavier Lindsay of Charlotte is being sought on 14 warrants for breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Sheriff Phil Redmond said Lindsay and two others, Shawn Cody Lee Hanton and Nasheed Shawntary Cureton, also of Charlotte, were responsible for the theft of four cars and break-ins to several others on Oct. 14 near Langtree Road in Mooresville.
A number of items were taken from several vehicles that were left unlocked, Redmond said. Credit cards stolen from two victims during the spree were later used to purchase gas, cigarettes and movie tickets in the Charlotte area, he said.
On Oct. 27, one of the stolen vehicles was located by the Davidson Police Department. It had been left abandoned in the Portside Drive area of Davidson.
On Nov. 10, around 9 a..m., Charlotte officers apprehended Cureton and Hanton after they ran from a vehicle that was one of the four reported stolen from Iredell, Redmond said.
Additional information led to the identity of the third suspect, Lindsay, Redmond said.
Some of the stolen property, including two of the vehicles, has been recovered, Redmond said.
Detective Sgt. Gina Cranford is continuing the investigation in an attempt to recover more of the stolen property.
Lindsay's whereabouts are unknown, Redmond said.
