The youth group at Vanderburg United Methodist Church, 1809 Charlotte Hwy. (Hwy. 21), Mooresville will be stepping out of their comfort zone on Nov. 20 as they will be spending the night outside in boxes, dressed in clothing that people donate.
The goal for the youth is for them to discover what the countless homeless on American streets experience everyday – being cold, sleeping in boxes, being hungry and dependent on others to open their hearts.
The youth are asking the community to help in this effort by visiting the church and dropping off bedding and winter wear. Several items that the Mooresville Christian Mission noted to be high demand are kids clothing and house wares.
Donations will be accepted from 4:45 p.m. on Friday until 7 a.m. on Saturday when the group will pack the donations to deliver them to the Christian Mission.
