A husband and wife were injured on their Mooresville Tribune newspaper delivery route early Friday morning when their van swerved off the road and rolled down an embankment.
The accident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. Friday on Tuskaroroa Trail, near Brawley School Road.
According to a published report, Edmund Wade Teague III was driving along Tuskaroroa with his wife Monica Teague when he swerved off the road.
The accident occurred when he went off the road and overcorrected.
According to Monica Teague, Edmund was thrown from the van and suffered a number of injuries to the chest area, including a punctured lung and possible spinal injuries.
He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center and, according to his wife, was being treated in the facility's intensive care unit.
Monica Teague was treated for less severe injuries at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and released.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident and, according to Monica Teague, no charges had been filed related to the incident.
