A woman who was serving as a caregiver for an elderly man is charged with stealing jewelry and checks from him.

Kendra Moore Robinson, 30, of Statesville, was charged with larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.

Sheriff Phil Redmond said a woman reported that jewelry and a check were stolen from her father, who lives near Troutman.

Detective Sgt. J.T. Smith learned the check had been cashed and it was made out to Kendra Moore, who had been taking care of the father.

Moore is Robinson's maiden name.
