If you regularly travel along White Oaks Road in Mooresville, look for an alternate route. The road was closed Monday to through traffic, and likely won't reopen until late November.
The section of White Oaks closed is from Shearers Road to Fieldstone Road.
Crews will be working to repair a large culvert pipe under the road. Work is expected to last as long as 60 days. During that time, only local traffic for residences on that section of White Oaks will be allowed.
White Oaks is a popular route of motorists traveling from southern and southwestern Mooresville to South Elementary School, Mooresville Intermediate School and the new Mooresville Middle School. Residents in the heavily populated neighborhoods of Red Oaks and along Fieldstone and Magnolia use White Oaks as a link to I-77.
During the closure, alternate routes include traveling through downtown Mooresville or along Cabarrus Avenue south of the downtown area.
