Something a simple as a meal out can make a difference.
The "Dine Out for Charity" program is being launched in the Lake Norman area to benefit the Boy Scouts of America.
"The vision behind the "Dine Out for Charity" program is to encourage visitors and locals alike to dine in these restaurants and give back to the community," said Cyndi Cearbaugh, Visitor Center Coordinator for Visit Lake Norman.
Cearbaugh said restaurants in Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville were invited to participate. Each eatery participates one day or night a week through Dec. 31, and a portion of their proceeds go to the Boy Scouts.
"The proceeds vary between each restaurant, but all donated proceeds received go directly to Lake Norman Boy Scouts, a group of 2,500 plus boys, ages 6 to 16 years, in the Hornet's Nest District of North Mecklenburg,' she said.
Visit Lake Norman's goal is to raise $500 to $1,000 in the beginning of the Dine Out project.
"The Boy Scouts of America seeks to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance," Cearbaugh said. "The money raised will help Lake Norman's local Boy Scout chapters to continue providing development programs. The community's participation will be critical to the future of training the youth in building their character development and gaining self-reliance."
