A Harmony woman was charged with firing a weapon near a school.
Mary Anne Heglar, 37, of Harmony was charged with disorderly conduct by shooting a gun on property adjacent to a school.
Sheriff Phil Redmond said that Deputy Carl Adams answered a complaint about shots being fired beside the soccer field at Harmony Elementary School Wednesday evening.
Witnesses told Adams that while soccer practice was going on, a woman at the property next door fired four shots from a shotgun.
Adams learned that prior to the shooting, the suspect came over to the school to retrieve a dog, and one of the coaches and some of the players helped her get the dog.
Witnesses told Adams that she went back home and started shooting, Redmond said.
Adams learned that she didn't fire in the direction of the school, but those on the soccer field were disturbed by the firing of a weapon close to the school grounds.
Deputy Brad Stroud went to Heglar's home, and found a shotgun inside the house, as well as three spent shotgun shells outside in a trash can, Redmond said.
Heglar was charged and the shotgun was seized for evidence.
