The Iredell Concert Association is proud to announce its opening concert for the 2009-2010 season with tenor Daniel Rodriquez singing such patriotic favorites and many others in "Proud to Be an American."

The live performance will be on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Mac Gray Auditorium in Statesville.

A former New York City police officer, Daniel Rodriguez was one of his department's designated anthem singers on Sept. 11, 2001. He rendered an a capella performances of "God Bless America" and the National Anthem that proved far greater than a patriotic gesture.

Since then, he has performed at venues ranging from the 2002 Winter Olympics, to Disneyland, to The White House.

The Iredell Concert Association is using this concert to express its appreciation to Iredell firefighters and police who risk their lives every day to protect the people in Iredell County. These individuals and their families are invited to come enjoy the concert at no charge for this particularly meaningful concert as a tribute to all men and women who serve and put their lives at risk for others.
