The growing number of retirees moving into the area was part of the draw for Home Helpers to start offering home health services in Statesville and Mooresville.
The Home Helpers Lake Norman office, 149 E. Iredell Ave., Mooresville, started serving the local area in December after receiving its license from the N.C. Division of Health Services Regulation.
The Cincinnati-based home health company already has several branches in the Charlotte area and 600 nationwide.
"We've noticed a lot of businesses developing in the Statesville, Mooresville and Lake Norman corridor," Home Helpers Vice President Glenn Holden said. "We are noticing a lot of retirees settling in that area."
Each U.S. Home Helpers office is strategically placed in areas where the population density reaches 250,000, Holden said.
Lake Norman and the mild climate are big draws for retirees, he said. A lot of people are relocating from the Northeast, he said.
Along with its core nursing service, Home Helpers utilizes Direct Link, a personal emergency response system that is used over the Internet.
Holden said Home Helpers' services don't extend to only seniors. The business caters to special-needs children, individuals who have been recently hospitalized and mothers of multiple babies.
Home Helpers also provides personal and companion services, transportation, meal preparation,
housekeeping, dressing assistance, personal grooming/bathing and medication management, according to a press release.
