N.C. tax forms no longer at library, post office

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Unlike in years past, North Carolina tax forms will no longer be available at public libraries or post offices, including Mooresville.
The N.C. Department of Revenue announced that as a cost-saving measure, the forms and instruction booklets for state income tax returns will not be as widely available.
Tax filers can still call the revenue department at 1-877-252-3052 and have the forms and booklets delivered by mail. The forms will also be available at departmental service centers across the state. The Charlotte office – 5111 Nations Crossing Road, Bldg. #8, Suite 100 – is the nearest center.
According to Mooresville Public Library Director John Pritchard, hard-copy federal tax forms will also not be available at the site. However, reference librarians will assist patrons with accessing the necessary forms via the Internet.
"We will be helping people download the proper forms," he said, noting that the library anticipates "quite a few" people utilizing its services during tax season.
Pritchard added that the number of patrons using the library's computers for tax-filing will steadily increase, "especially when it gets closer to April."
Although the library will not be offering any tax-preparation classes in the following months, Pritchard noted that other local organizations will be hosting such courses before April 15.
For more information, contact the Mooresville Public Library at 704-664-2927.
People can request forms online from the state revenue department at www.dornc.com/forms, print forms from online or file electronically.
