Lake Norman scored 15 runs in the first inning Thursday and defeated Statesville 24-1 in three innings Thursday.
Mariah McGuffey and Shelby Bailey both had three hits for the Wildcats (2-0). Hannah Littlefield, Domi-nique Wilson, Arin Hall and Chloe Archer all finished with two hits as well.
McGuffey and Littlefield also drove in four runs apiece, and Littlefield hit two triples.
Archer earned the win on the mound, striking out five batters in two innings of work.
