Vikings golfer Zach Leaptrott improved his nine-hole score by 10 strokes with Monday's performance.
Leaptrott, who played basketball for South during the winter, shot a 49 at Mooresville Municipal to open the season.
Back on his home course at Fox Den on Monday, he carded a 39 to finish in the top-five individually during a four-team match.
