STATESVILLE, NC - The Statesville Police Department is investigating a rash of car break-ins at two restaurants in the Crossroads area.
SPD Chief Tom Anderson said the break-ins were all reported Friday afternoon.
A truck, parked at Cracker Barrel, was broken into but nothing was taken, Anderson said. The passenger window was broken out.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed a black male walking up to the truck and looking in the vehicle, Anderson said. The footage was from a distance and police were not able to get a clear picture of the man. He was seen getting into a white car. He was wearing dark coloring and white sneakers.
A Nissan Armada, parked at K&W Cafeteria, was broken into and a purse was taken, Anderson said. The front window was broken out, he said.
Within the same time period, a purse was stolen from a vehicle at Heritage Knitting on Wilson Park Road. The passenger window was broken out.
