The Landmark Church of God in Statesville will host an educational forum on Alzheimer's disease and dementia next week.
The forum, hosted by the Alzheimer's Association of Western Carolina Chapter, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the church, 2200 E. Broad St. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at the door.
"Family and professional caregivers, health care professionals and anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimer's and dementia are encouraged to attend to get the most current information on Alzheimer's disease and related disorders," an association press release said.
Event speakers will include: Dr. Daniel Kaufer, associate professor and chief of cognitive neurology and memory disorders in the Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill; Dr. Bryan Connell, Ph.D., psychologist with Connell Psychological Services; Teresa Hoover, senior director of programs, Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina Chapter; Cindy Kincaid, regional long-term care ombudsman with the Centralina Area Agency on Aging; Jackie Negley, family caregiver specialist, Iredell Council on Aging; and Randy Berryhill, bereavement coordinator, Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County.
