Police seek Mooresville bank robber

Mooresville police are seeking a man who robbed a First Citizens Bank branch early Friday evening.

At 5:49 p.m., police were called to the bank at 241 Medical Park Road, near I-77/Exit 33, following the robbery. Witnesses said the suspect had entered the bank, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from a teller.

He was given an undetermined amount of cash and a dye pack. Witnesses said the dye pack activated in the suspect’s vehicle as he drove away from the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 5-foot-8 and 5-feet-11, with a medium build. He was dressed in all black, including a heavy coat with “Security” written on the front and back.

His vehicle was described as a silver sports car, possibly a Hyundai or Lexus. The vehicle’s tag had a blue line across the top, police said, and was the car was last seen heading north on U.S. 21.

Police asked anyone with information about the robbery to call Detective Ashley Patrick at 704-658-9029.
