Blue Devils face challenging hoops stretch

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Mooresville's boys basketball team dropped an agonizing 55-50 decision to East Rowan last week, but the Blue Devils don't have the luxury to dwell on it.

Mooresville, smack in the middle of the North Piedmont 3A standings, has a pair of tough teams on tap this week.

Northwest Cabarrus comes to town Tuesday, and Mooresville will make the short bus ride across town to play unbeaten rival Lake Norman on Friday.

"I think it will be a good test for these young kids to come back from a tough loss," Mooresville coach Mike Mick-low said. "We face a good Northwest team, which I feel that we can beat, and then go in that hostile environment and try to knock off Lake Norman, one of the best teams in the state. It's exciting.

"We're looking forward to both those games, but I don't want our kids to look forward to Friday and not take care of Tuesday's game."

The Blue Devils took an early lead against East Rowan last Friday but were outscored 33-19 over the second and third quarters and couldn't make the comeback.
